Mermaids, MerFairies & Their Captured Tears
Once upon a time there grew a magical place called the Sea of Enchantment. It's a very special place where Mermaids & MerFairies (mermaids with wings) swim freely and time stands still. Imagine the ocean described in the tales of our youth, when sailors explored the sea. They are delicate creatures born of the sense and human spirit, they come into being at perfect moments, like when the coolness of an ocean breeze reaches you the very same instant the warm summer sun kisses your cheek. They come from quiet tears of overwhelming joy. They come from wisdom and the discoveries of truth and true love. They call to us, at any age, to dance, play and be happy. Mermaids & MerFairies were rumored to appear in the imaginative mind of sailors lost at sea. She is Queen of the Sea and one with the water; known for her ability and wisdom to see all, her spells of enchantment and her great beauty. Behind her mysterious smile lies hidden deep secrets of the sea. She is the Voice of the Sea and sings so enchantingly that sailors cannot resist her. My small Merfairies sell for $25 and you choose her dominant color. The larger sculptures like Shellianna (mermaid in the shell) is a custom order that sells for $250. She is favored by my customers, with Oceanna running a strong second (sitting mermaid). Look closely at her tiny fingers and her fingernails. In her hand she holds a real tiny starfish and seashells that I find on my island travels. You choose her glass eye color, clay and hair color and leave the rest to me. I spend hours and weeks of TLC on the larger sculptures and before I know it the block of clay transforms into a little personality. When I am in my creative zone, 8 hours can go by and it seems like seconds. With the large custom orders, you tell me what you want and I can create it, even one that looks just like you!
The Legend has it, that when mermaids cry their tears harden and turn to crystalline, which is also called Sea Glass. Sometimes life takes unexpected turns, leaving behind discomfort and heartache. My grandchildren experienced a great loss in their life and their mother seeked their healing on the sea shore. What they found amazed and delighted them and ever so gently their joy was restored.
